Herndon, VA, February 14, 2003 — Valador has been awarded a competed GSA Task Order to support Columbia Accident Investigation Board headed by Admiral Hal Gehman.

Under this task order, Valador will be providing a variety of services including technical analyses including for example, hypersonic aerothermodynamics, materials forensics, sensor and timeline reconstruction, independent testing, modeling and simulation, Shuttle safety and operations analysis, training and other technical areas as required; public website (CAIB.US) development, management, and support; congressional liaison support; public affairs support including press conferences, public meetings, webcasts, and photodocumentation; final report documentation development and other administrative support.

The loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia has resulted in a stand down of the entire Space Shuttle fleet and has impacted the operations and construction of the International Space Station. This unprecedented loss during reentry comes at a critical juncture of on-orbit space operations—the space station is nearing completion and continues to maintain a crew on-orbit. The effective completion of this independent accident investigation will be critical for the future of manned space operations and the completion of the International Space Stations.
